Drop Dead Gorgeous

Last week, Malik's girlfriend Jenna lay lifeless in Malik's garage wearing only a bra and panties, Tasha Mack couldn't help but notice her flawless skin.  "How are you going to explain a dead super model with flawless skin in your garage?  I wonder what kind of lotion she uses?"  The timing might not have been appropriate, but the truth is, we as women notice things like that.

When it comes to our skin we tend to focus on our faces and neglect the rest of our bodies.  Childhood scrapes, scars, mosquito bites, accidents-all these things affect the appearance of our skin.  While our grandmothers may have clued us in to the benefits of cocoa butter, there's so much more we can do to help in our pursuit of flawless skin.

One of the best ways to get that all over glow is exfoliation.  Using a mild scrub just once or twice a week helps remove dead skin cells that over time, leave us with a dull complexion.

Body Polish
To take it one step further,  visit a day spa and book an appointment for a body polish.  Body polishing is a process of exfoliating skin on your entire body.  Your esthetician will evaluate your skin's condition and then use a series of scrubs to literally polish and then buff away dead skin cells.  That process is followed by adding oils and moisturizers to hydrate your skin.  Aside from leaving you with glowing and supple skin, it is a very relaxing experience.  When done seasonally, along with your regular skin care regimen you should see an improvement in the appearance of your skin.

Back Facial
To get your back and shoulders ready to face the world, try  a back facial.  A back facial  provides all of the benefits of a facial (cleansing, steam, exfoliation, extraction and moisturizing) but for your back.  In time this treatment will improve the tone and texture of your skin.  You'll wear a backless top, gown or a bathing suit, without a second thought.

Hydration
A sure way to get and keep your skin glowing is to hydrate from the inside out.  That means that instead of just using lotions and creams, you should make drinking water and eating water-rich foods (green leafy vegetables and fruits) a part of your daily routine.

It's tempting to ignore our skin in the winter months, especially since we're all covered up. Here's a few things to add to your list of all year round skin care musts.   Keep those pedicure appointments.

  • Address Hyper pigmentation (dark spots) issues with your dermatologist to determine the best method of treatment.
  • Chapped lips are a skin care issue.  Take a teaspoon of sugar and mix it with a teaspoon of honey.  Using a soft bristle tooth brush, gently scrub the skin on your lips to loosen and remove dead skin.  Follow with a moisturizing lip balm.
  • Always moisturize immediately after bathing to help seal in moisture.
  • Keep pedicure appointments or treat yourself to a foot scrub at least once a month
  • Invest in cotton gloves to sleep in after moisturizing your hands.
  • Always wear sunscreen. Even when it's cloudy or cold, the sun's rays are still powerful.  So protect yourself.
Treat, care and pamper your skin in all year round for best results.   Here's to being flawless!

What are your tried and true skin care tips, we'd love to know?
