Malik rolls into the place disturbing Tasha and Pookie's groove. The two aren't having sex as Malik suspects but Pookie and Tasha agree that they are considering entertaining the relationship going beyond friendship. Malik Forbids them because Pookie is like a father to him and he doesn't want Tasha driving him away like she does every other man. Malik leaves still angry that apparently Tasha nor Pookie plan to adhere to Malik's wishes.
On the other side of town, Janay arrives to pick up D.J. and to announce that she and Noah plan to move to New York, with D.J. Janay asks for Derwin's blessing only to be shot down quickly. "No...you won't plan my life (Janay suggests that Derwin and Mel follow them) and you will take my son to your house which is around the corner....and that's as far as it goes...I've thought about it...." Janay turns to Melanie for support but Derwin cuts her off at the past, demanding that Janay try not to bring Mel into [it]. It is one of the few times we've actually seen Derwin stand up to Janay in protection of Melanie.
Melanie and Derwin set up a tent to plan a camping trip with D.J. the next day. Melanie brings up the issue citing that D.J. may be unhappy growing up with an unhappy "Mommy" because Derwin refuses to allow Janay to go. Classic Derwin turns the tables on Mel insinuating that Mel wants to get D.J. and Janay as far from him as possible. Melanie sets the record straight that her intentions are only what's best for his son and locks Derwin in the tent; he needs a time out!
Tasha and Pookie continue their exploration with a candlelit dinner, only to be interrupted by Malik who offers his Blessing on their relationship. Malik leaves; Tasha and Pookie attempt to kiss. It is awkward and snaps both out of their trance sending the would be lovebirds to opposite sides of the room.
Malik revisits Tasha who comes to the conclusion that she and Pookie won't work. She compares the kiss to a red velvet cake that is dry and flavorless that after one has taken a bite regrets the calories, the aftertaste and wishes she never took a bite in the first place. Malik storms out again blaming Tasha. "Tasha Mack strikes again!"
However it isn't over for Tasha and Pookie. At the bustop to say good-bye, Tasha and Pookie lock lips like two passionate veterans. Longing, passion and lust is very apparent and we're left to wonder, will they get back together? Can a relationship between these two, work?
Derwin meets Janay and gives his blessing for Janay to go. Derwin tells Melanie that she was right but that he's sad because his decision made Janay so happy. However he hasn't been able to make her happy so he sets out to do just that by agreeing to Tasha as their surrogate. Of course Melanie is beams with joy and that smile that Derwin referenced for Janay, is now firmly planted on Melanie.
What started as a night of No's ended up Yes! A night of Yes! It will be interesting to see if all works for all. It's good to see Derwin and Melanie happy and working together again.
Why should Tasha give Pookie a chance? Is this another miscalculated romance doomed to fail?
