Across town, Malik and TeeTee trace Malik's drunken steps. He discovers a receipt and realizes he's dropped two grand on a liquor bill at Drop Bar. He doesn't remember a thing but Chardonnay does. She recants the fact that he was drinking with his boss Roger, Jason had to get him to his room, the bill was his and his alone, accumulated only after Roger left, he grabbed her left boob, right cheek oh, and only tipped Chardonnay five percent. He anty ups his tip for Chardonnay but still doesn't recall a thing.
Jason shows up at Drop Bar to see Chardonnay being flirted with and flirting. Clearly he's jealous and shows so when he acts like he doesn't want to be bothered as she attempts to massage him.
Derwin arrives home to find Melanie downing a family sized bag of chips. "I'll worry about it tomorrow..." She quips. Derwin is upset and wondering why she's quit the Sunbeams without discussing it with him. "I'm not happy and you don't understand how I'm tired of listening to their petty problems..." Derwin admonishes Melanie. "You can't air our dirty laundry and act all crazy in public..." He demands. She repeats that she's not happy, Derwin suggests she perhaps continues school once his career starts to dwindle. Melanie is not persuaded. Finally, Derwin suggest that Melanie considers Johns Hopkins after or even with D.J. And he calls her selfish!
After talking with Tasha, Melanie reinstates herself as Sunbeam President forgiving the breakdown she had the day before. The Sunbeams have a "I'm not happy" moment revealing everything from being a closet lesbian to being unhappy with a chosen husband--Javon--and that Derwin was the one that got away.
Jason returns to Drop Bar and drives all of Chardonnay's customers away with his reveal that he's her husband. To further show his love he pays his bill (a never occurrence) and orders bottle service for himself and his co-workers, to make up for Chardonnay's lost of income. Finally we see Jason in a rare vulnerable moment, he addresses the fact that he's in love with Chardonnay and has said so. "Do you have anything to say in return?" Chardonnay acknowledges his love and asserts control. "...We do things in our own time, if and when I'm ready to say that to you I will let you know in my own way." Jason understands and although there is a slight let down, the tenderness in the moment make us swoon.
Having re-instated herself as Sunbeam President, Melanie has to deal with the aftermath from Derwin. "Half the team didn't show up for practice because they are dealing with recked home lives..." Derwin argues. "...Who cares...The pain of my unhappiness is real..." Melanie fights back. She then asserts herself; she's made a decision. She's going back to Johns Hopkins and although she'd love him to go with her and support her, she's willing to go alone. Derwin grabs her suitcase, and places it before her. "I guess you gotta follow your heart..." Derwin walks away.
In the immortal words of New Edition....Is this the end? Are you my friend....I wanna know.....
Really, is this the end for Melanie and Derwin? Should she leave her marriage to follow her dream? Is Derwin asking too much for her to wait and should she?
