Single Ladies: No Ordinary Love The ReCap

Season 2, Episode 2,  "No Ordinary Love" of Single Ladies opens with Racquel "sexting" the love of her life, Antonio. She confirms her choice to have left her cheating fiance and is thrilled to build something meaningful with Antonio.  "He's so alive and he encourages me to be that way..."

Kesha is still reeling over her latest break-up with Malcolm and April's broken plans with potential dates for the third time in two weeks, has worn thin.

The girls and Omar weigh in on team KeMal.  Raquel says you still love him, find a way to work it out.  April claims team KeShawn and Omar, well Omar is pining over his own drama.  Omar's boyfriend Derrick's parents are in town and he wishes homophobia was their problem.  They are not homophobic, in fact they are dismayed with Omar getting Derrick's milk for free.  The parents want Omar and Derrick to marry and cease living in sin.  Bigger problem: Omar has no desire to get married.  It's not legal in Georgia and therefore unnecessary.  For Omar, living in sin is the best and only way to be, marriage is no where in his crystal ball, that is until Derrick presents him with a proposal and engagement ring that would make Kim Zolciak-Beirman blush.
Kesha is at Malcolm's to pack her things.  Malcolm shows up and out.  Kesha may be moving out but Malcolm moves in, all the way in--and Kesha can't resist.  Afterwards, Kesha grabs her bags and tells Malcolm the sex, doesn't change her mind.  "I heard an apology but I didn't hear that the situation is going to change...."  Malcolm grows incensed.  When his pleas turn to threats and his ultimate dismissal, Kesha issues her very own brand of admonishment. "Forget you, I tried and good luck...I'm done!"  Malcolm demands.

"It's forgotten, you didn't try hard enough, thank you and I was done a week ago"--Kesha exits vowing that Malcolm will see her fabulous backside for the last time.  With Malcolm out of her life--maybe--Kesha leans toward her Real Estate practice.  Her mentor and Broker, a Southern Belle who relishes in Kesha's on the nose relationship advice.  Although the market is really bad, even for high end, Kesha implores help.  Giddily the Southern Belle gives Kesha a shot at a foreclosed property, one that is on the other side of the tracks.  Kesha visits the property to assess, only to find a pro-boxer aka squatter planted in the house.  After a conversation and an explanation as to why the pro-boxer has commandeered somebody else's property,  Kesha compromises with the boxer.  She allows him to squat a few more weeks providing, he continues to keep up the property and that he is as good with a paint brush as he is with his punching bag.

At V's, everyone is looking for a bit of heat.  It seems that Raquel needs to replace the entire HVAC unit.  April comes to the rescue with two bottles of vodka.  It seems her entertainment business is plagued with a four thousand percent mark-up on bottle service that is  a fraud.  A V.I.P. has complained that her club is substituting premium vodka with the cheap stuff.  She confirms this truth, her dilemma: let it slide for more profit in her pocket or demand that people get what they pay for.  By the way, true to form, Kesha is the only one who can tell the difference between the real and the cheap.  "[Vodka may be odorless] but cheap isn't."

After a full day of "sexting" and longing, Raquel and Antonio end up at her place.  Passionate kisses and gropes in the hallway, can't persuade Antonio to stay over tonight.  This is odd, considering the fact that they haven't been able to keep their hands, minds and body off of each other since their forbidden re-connection.  However all is well explained when during the next night, Antonio interrupts post movie night just before the passion is fulfilled.  Antonio is a clinically diagnosed sex addict.  Yes, he has a sponsor, twelve step program sheet [he pulls out in bed just after dining downstairs] and a one hundred and fifty two day celibate deadline, that he blew with the tryst in the stable.  He's now down to day 0.  Raquel while stunned, is compassionate and gentle.

Raquel, experiencing a tiny dilemma seeks the counsel of her friend Kesha.  It is here that we learn yet another interesting fact about Kesha, she too has done her stint in Dr. Drew's sexual rehab.  Kesha advises Raquel that "having a healthy relationship with an addict is like hearing a song without Lil' Wayne on it...."  Raquel listens to Kesha's advice but chooses to "Stand By [Her] Man"  Tammy Wynette style.  "I'm not going to kick him to the curb because I'm faced with a challenge...."  Kesha respects that choice and reflects that she wished Malcolm thought and acted the same way.

Kesha is getting ready for a mixer when April shows up to re-affirm their friendship.  The girls plan a girl's night out, a few days after Kesha's mixer.  That plan is cut short when Malcolm shows up.  Make-up sex between the two, occur once--twice again.  They just can't get enough of each other.  It seems like Raquel is right.  Kesha can't shake him and he's not going to let her.

Kesha still has to sell her house.  By now, the squatter--handsomely played by "Tank" the singer, has claimed his stake.  "You need a court order to get me out of here and it will take months....I'm not going anywhere....I know my rights."  Well the squatter may have won the battle, but with Kesha, the battle isn't enough, you've got to win the war.  She pulls out the big guns, the one with Judge favor-connections.  Shawn comes  to the rescue again and enlists the favor of one of his judges.  Shawn gets the squatter out and his intention for Kesha in.  "I'm coming for you....and by the time Malcolm realizes what he's lost, you'll be Mrs. Clark..."  Kesha graciously declines any re-start with Shawn but something tells me, he's not going away so easily either.  For Kesha, she  not only has options, but is raining men, Weather Girl style!

Antonio makes an unexpected visit to Raquel.  She's made up her mind, she's standing by her man.  Only to her surprise, he's not standing by her.  He's spoken with his sponsor, revisited his plan and in order to get and keep his life in order, he must remove himself from Raquel. He doesn't want to but he has to.  And to seal the deal, he reveals that he slept with someone else, just last night.  "I don't mean to keep hurting you...that is why I must leave you...."

Finally, Kesha ends it with Malcolm for good.  She's so serious that she goes to his house, rings the bell and returns his key.  It's all or nothing and she's not interested in a squat in this relationship...she's not willing to compromise any longer.  Derrick shows up at V to take Omar to a surprise engagement lunch, Derrick's parents are throwing for them.  Omar, unable to fake it any longer even for the ring breaks down.  "I fear if we get married we won't be ready...."  Instead of the broke down reaction Omar expects from Derrick for "cutting him", Derrick laughs.  Turns out Derrick didn't want to get married either and was only succumbing to parental pressure.  The two further talk to conclude not only are they not ready for marriage but the live-in thing is not working either.  They are just too different.  They split as well.  Derrick gets the ring, Omar gets the baby--the dog that is; a fair shake for everyone.

This night could have been called Break Up to Make Up.  It seems like the ladies and Omar are still...Single Ladies......can't wait until next week....Kesha spots Malcolm at a Ball with another woman.

Should Kesha figure it out with Malcolm or was she right to end it for good, good?  If the love of your life proclaimed a sex addiction, would you stay or go and why?

  1. Single Ladies is one of my all time favorite shows on VH1. It is full of drama and I can relate to their men problems. Even though I work late at Dish during the week, I can always use Dish Online to stay connected. I can watch all the shows right on my computer when I have time.
