Single Ladies Season 2 Episode 2 "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On!"

Single Ladies Season 2 Episode 2, "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On," should have been called A Tour De Va-Jay-Jay.

Making a quick recovery from an awkward season opener, tonight's episode got to the point.  Tonight it was all about the Honey Pot, the cookie, the Va-Jay-Jay.

April, Raquel & Kesha

With Racquel nicely settled in, we meet her along with Kesha and April at the roller skating rink.  As the S.O.S. Band's Take Your Time booms in the background, the girls, minus April go off to skate.  April has bumped into a cutey and lags behind.  When she attempts to help him--he's like an elephant on an ice cube--he falls, she falls, on top of and around each other.  However he doesn't fail to get her number.

Kesha and the girls skate over to the ATM machine.  When Kesha seeks to retrieve money, she gets a zero balance message.  A warning follows that; Your Funds Have Been Seized!  Racquel explains how the IRS makes clean sweeps of all accounts.  It isn't long before the girls squeal about Kesha's car. They skate outside to find it hasn't yet been possessed, jump in and drive off Single Ladies style.

Kesha and Racquel share a little late night lasagna.  Kesha is still reeling about her IRS problem.  She asks for Racquel's help in the shop; Val's receipts may be too tempting for her.  Racquel obliges and while going over the books in Val's former office, she is visited by the venerable Queen Bee, Mrs. Lancaster.  Surprised by her mother's visit, Queen Bee leads into a a barrage of questions and admonishment about how Racquel is wasting her education and a number of post graduates degrees, to be a shop girl.  "Lancasters don't work in shops we own stock in them...You know you would easy to explain if you were in Rehab."   Mrs. Lancaster states as Racquel walks off.

April visits the gynecologist for her annual check-up.  When her regular Dr. is called away for an emergency, April agrees to a replacement.  It's none other than McClumsy from the skating rink.  He proceeds to complete his exam and is fully entrenched in his studies when April realizes who is exploring her cavern.  They both react and April clamps his head between her thighs until he runs out of the room.

Still looking to relieve stress and have a little fun, the girls hit the stables.  Raquel's family has kept their horses in this stable for years.  It is here where Racquel runs into her first, Antonio.  He's returned to town and Racquel explains that the only reason they separated as young love is because--you got it--Lancasters don't date, sleep with and marry stable hands either.  With the tension flying about the air, we're not surprised when they hook up later.  As they are getting their roll on in the hay, literally--pun intended--they are interrupted by none other than the Queen Bee herself.  Mrs. Lancaster has swapped her normal riding days to Wednesday, the day Raquel shows up.  Another conversation ensues, well heated discussion.  It is here in front of the grazing horses that Racquel completely declares her independence from her mother.  "I'm buying the shop..."  Racquel quips.  Queen Bee seeks to dissuade her daughter to no avail.  "You'll get used to the new Racquel....I am, I'm loving her."  Racquel seals the declaration to her mother with a kiss to both cheeks.

Single Ladies Taking a Ride!

Kesha meets with Shawn her ex-lover, new attorney only to find out that despite her deal, the National Treasurer is coming after her for their money.  A payment plan must be made.

Back at the shop, Kesha reveals that a flicker still exist between she and Shawn.

After being prodded by Omar, Kesha and Racquel April accepts a date with Dr. Va-Jay-Jay. Sparks fly at the during the first date.  But when he arrives to pick her up for their second date he alters their original plans.  "I know we have reservations tonight but would you mind if I dined in?"  She agrees and suggests delivery.  Dr. Va-Jay-Jay corrects her, "I meant me."  He proceeds to dine "in" all over her, much to April's satisfaction.  In the after-glow, Dr. Va-Jay-Jay makes a request. He wants to take April to Brazil.  Reluctantly she agrees and he leaves April without so much as a landing strip.  April feels, Dr. Va-Jay-Jay is a little preoccupied with her honey pot and says so to the girls.  However she advises the girls that this Board Certified aficionado claims her honey pot to be the best he's ever encountered, among thousands.  The girls and Omar ask for proof of this certification.  Here's where the show gets weird, April proves the Dr.'s theory in the back of the shop.  The council confirms and cosigns the Dr's diagnosis.  However, Dr. Va-Jay-Jay is quickly assessed as being obsessed.  On an unexpected visit the good doctor brings a gift.  It's a kegel tool, yes an exercisers for her Va-Jay-Jay.  Next caller, Dr. Obsessed is done.

Failed attempts to get Kesha to take business out of the office prompts Shawn to visit her home.  Today is the day they must secure the re-payment deal.  Depressed about the situation she turns to her homemade  chocolate chip pancakes, Shawn joins her.  Shortly after the first bite the former couple is interrupted by Malcolm.  Everything is good in his world, he's in the clear.  When he notices that Kesha is not alone, Malcolm "pees on his tree" to the tune of the full 200,000dollar debt and attorney fees. Yes he's paying it all and thus relinquishes Shawn of all services.  Shawn however, is going no where.  He is coming for Kesha whether she and/or Malcolm like it or not.  He returns to his breakfast, the twosome quickly turns to an uncomfortable threesome.

Finally in an effort to move forward with cleaning up every area of her life, Racquel seeks to buy the shop.  All is good with Kesha and Val but it is Eve (playing herself) that has to agree.  She's a major stockholder and is not turning the shop over to a novice.  Racquel impresses Eve and caps off the fact that she's investing all of her own savings.  Eve is still reluctant.  "You may find a person with more experience but you won't find a person with more passion."  Racquel pleads.  Eve agrees and the girls toast.  "To taking risks and being in charge of our own destinies!"  They drink but not before Racquel verbalizes, "I hope this works out."

The teaser:  Malcolm and Kesha enjoy some private time when a phone call from Ashley (his ex-wife) supposedly supplanted on the Ivory Coast interrupts their moment.  An argument ensues which causes Kesha to demand that Malcolm drop Ashley from their lives.  She then offers an ultimatum, "Drop Ashley or I will start hanging out with Shawn."  If we know anything about Malcolm from last season, Malcolm doesn't do demands or ultimatums.  And although he storms out, with her blessing, we can't help but wonder if there will be a truce and reconciliation.  Malcolm Franks is known to get what he wants.

What did you think of tonight's episode?  Will it be KeMal or KeShawn?

  1. Thank you so much for your recap on Single Ladies last night! It sounds like some juicy stuff went down and I missed it! I haven’t gotten a chance to watch it since I had to stay late at the office at Dish. I was able to record it on my Hopper so when I get home I can sit down and watch it. Honestly if I didn’t have my Hopper to record all my shows I would be lost. It keeps me in touch with what I am missing out.

  2. I don't understand why Kesha would let her friend Raquel buy the shop instead of trying to secure that for herself. Since Malcolm and Shawn want to give her money or help her out, why not invest in her being an owner of the shop instead of buying trinkets and hoping to sell a foreclosure. I know it's a show, but selling her car or finding a way to start a new life for herself might have been a more empowering option. Oh well.

  4. This show definitely needs Stacy Dash back! None of the other ladies other than April are even close to as entertaining/interesting. I really do like April's genuine rebellious attitude though - seems totally real like it's not a front.

Also loved that they used Foxy Brown's "Candy" in this episode when April goes to dinner. That song's swagger totally matches April's personality
