Fertility: To Conceive Or Not To Conceive

According to the CDC, The American Infertility Alliances and a number of Obstetric Societies, about ten percent of the world's population suffer with infertility issues.  That's almost 600 million people, on the planet that we know of, who are having trouble conceiving and/or carrying natural born children to full term.  This issue is not singularly relegated to the want to be parents who married later in life or the women who waited for Prince Charming only to find out they're all frogs and she can do this by herself.

Melanie and Derwin, The new faces of Infertility

As evidenced in the latest installment of The Game,  "A Punch in the Gut" episode: money, age, status or the fact that you've had children before do not make you immune to Infertility issues.  It is no longer only the problem for the woman over thirty-five.  In fact causes of infertility are indiscriminately spread amongst the young, older, rich, poor, women and men.

The Game ReCap Season 5 Episode 11 "Higher Ground"

Fresh off the heels of the poignant Infertility focused episode, The Game Season 5 Episode 11 kept it going this week opening with the guys in a traditional Poker Game.  Jason hurls beers and his usual insults, such as "Vjay-jay whipped church boy" and "formerly pill popping got recently sober bench warming Sabres Quarterback."  Normally Derwin would refuse the adult libation but when he actually takes a large swig of beer, rightfully so, the guys pause.  Something is wrong.  Derwin reveals to the guys that Melanie can't have babies.

Tasha and Melanie are back!

Continuing on with the poker game, TeeTee answers the doorbell.  "The wings are here."  He advises as several beautiful women tote trays of chicken wings and "brownies".  "You can have wings, legs, thighs and breasts..."  TeeTee taunts.

The Game Season 5 Episode 10: A Punch In The Gut

Last night's episode of The Game opens with Melanie and Derwin in the doctor's office sharing a playful moment.  Unfortunately, the doctor returns with some bad news.  Melanie is diagnosed with endometriosis. Thanks to that medical degree she's not using, she understands what this means before the doctor explains that she has less than a ten percent chance of carrying a child to term.

Derwin wants to continue with in vitro fertilization, but Melanie protests.  She's been through enough and the emotional roller coaster is taking it's toll on her.  It doesn't take long before adoption comes up. Next thing you know Melanie and Derwin are propositioning an unwed mother in a bar.  They just keep adding skeletons to their closet.

The Game REcap: Season 5 Episode 9 Keep Your Friends Close...

The Keep Your Friends Close and Your Prostitutes Closer episode opened with Derwin in usual jealous fashion confronts Janay about her impending nuptials.  "You know I'm going to block it..." Derwin shoots at her.  Janay however is packing her own gun, "Call your lawyers....I'm going through with the wedding.  Don't I deserve to be happy?"

Janay confronts Melanie with, "I told you not to tell Derwin..."
"And I told him not to tell you."  Melanie unapologetically rebounds.

" I had a moment of vulnerability and I trusted you.  But I'm sorry you're a bourgeoisie ass fake Dr. wannabee trick.  Just like Tasha tweeted."  Janay strikes before leaving.
