Take Me Out: A fun new show!

I looked around for a light and easy show, something a little fun when I heard of a show coming to America from the UK called Take Me Out.  I googled it and found that it was a game dating show, a throwback of sorts, when men, women and hosts threw kisses from their hands to signal, that they’d found a match.  You’re probably too young to remember The Dating Game, but I’m okay dating myself for a moment—pun intended.

While I have fond memories of The Dating Game, modern day Reality Date Shows rarely warrant my viewership.   The Bachelor and The Bachelorette shows in particular, display blatant signs that they could care less about my demographic.  In both age and culture, these shows feature a modicum, if any, of people of color.  And God forbid they should show any semblance of intelligent, sexy, influential and established men and women of color, to choose or be chosen.

The Return of Pooch Hall?

Pooch Hall is speaking out about why he's leaving The Game and that he'd actually like to come back.

Lyn Paolo: The Woman Behind Scandal's Style

Lyn Paolo, Costume Designer for Scandal

If you've been watching Scandal, Shonda Rhimes' new hit on ABC starring Kerry Washington, then you understand the suspense that's kept me on the edge of my sofa on Thursday nights.  I've been captivated by the story line, the dialogue and of course, the scandal. Each episode left me wondering what would happen next and WWOW (What Will Olivia Wear)?

Enter Lyn Paolo, the costume designer for Scandal.  She's the woman behind the chic, ultra feminine, yet powerful wardrobe of Olivia Pope. I had a chance to speak with Paolo about Olivia's style, the possibility of a collection, and her advice to busy, stylish women everywhere.

Breaking News: Private Practice Shake-Up!

Seems like The Game isn't announcing the only shake-ups for the 2012-13 season.  On the heels of only 13 episodes (regular season 22) ordered for Private Practice, Kate Walsh announced her departure from the show at the conclusion of her contracted 13 episode season on the Grey's Anatomy spinoff. Her announcement was made on "Bethenny" the new talk show from the former Real Housewives of New York breakout star.

According to Yiddio, Shonda Rhimes maintains that the expiration of Kate Walsh's contract (Dr. Addison Montgomery) and the truncated season order, is entirely coincidental.
In an interview with TV Guide, Rhimes (creator of Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal and cancelled Off The Map) explains that recent decisions including the departure of Tim Daly's character Pete was due to budgetary issues. "There's a lot of budgetary issues on that show," explains Rhimes. "We need to make sure the show is viable and that we can produce it. I feel as though Tim's character had a wonderful journey." Rhimes adds that she isn't yet ready to declare ABC's initial order of 13 episodes for the 2012-2013 season as Private's last stand. "I have been told that I'm not allowed to think of us only doing 13 episodes."

Tim Daly tweeted the following about his departure:  Wonderful fans of PPP. Shonda informed my agent today that Pete wont be returning for season 6. It was a great 5 yrs. R.I.P. Pete Wilder.

With the departure of three of the major characters of this ensemble--Dr. Naomi Bennett played by fan favorite Audra McDonald departed a season ago--one has to wonder if there is a plan for this show to return after the 13 episodes run, at all.  Compelling, heart thrilling and wrenching episodes had been reduced to prime-time Soap Opera like story lines.  It was the end of Season 5 that fans started to feel like the show was getting back on concrete ground.  Hearing about budgetary problems followed by abrupt changes give us cause to second the creator's emotion: the show has to be viable again, regardless of who's journey with show continues or ends.

Can the show survive without Addison?  Should it?

Single Ladies: No Ordinary Love The ReCap

Season 2, Episode 2,  "No Ordinary Love" of Single Ladies opens with Racquel "sexting" the love of her life, Antonio. She confirms her choice to have left her cheating fiance and is thrilled to build something meaningful with Antonio.  "He's so alive and he encourages me to be that way..."

Kesha is still reeling over her latest break-up with Malcolm and April's broken plans with potential dates for the third time in two weeks, has worn thin.

The girls and Omar weigh in on team KeMal.  Raquel says you still love him, find a way to work it out.  April claims team KeShawn and Omar, well Omar is pining over his own drama.  Omar's boyfriend Derrick's parents are in town and he wishes homophobia was their problem.  They are not homophobic, in fact they are dismayed with Omar getting Derrick's milk for free.  The parents want Omar and Derrick to marry and cease living in sin.  Bigger problem: Omar has no desire to get married.  It's not legal in Georgia and therefore unnecessary.  For Omar, living in sin is the best and only way to be, marriage is no where in his crystal ball, that is until Derrick presents him with a proposal and engagement ring that would make Kim Zolciak-Beirman blush.

The Finale ReCap: The Championship Game

Season 5 Episode 22 The Finale: The Championship Game episode of The Game left us with a few unexpected explosions.  Even with the knowledge that Derwin and Melanie are (supposedly) not returning next season--we can't help but hope--fans were left with mouths wide open.

Jenna performs, Sabers look on in dismay

Last week we were left with the thought that Malik was getting arrested and possibly going to miss the Championship Game chasing behind his newly released Re-hab drug addicted supermodel.  However, whatever was said in the back of the squad car worked.  The police get Malik and Jenna to the stadium, just minutes before the clock ticks down for kick-off.

Single Ladies Season 2 Episode 2 "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On!"

Single Ladies Season 2 Episode 2, "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On," should have been called A Tour De Va-Jay-Jay.

Making a quick recovery from an awkward season opener, tonight's episode got to the point.  Tonight it was all about the Honey Pot, the cookie, the Va-Jay-Jay.

April, Raquel & Kesha

With Racquel nicely settled in, we meet her along with Kesha and April at the roller skating rink.  As the S.O.S. Band's Take Your Time booms in the background, the girls, minus April go off to skate.  April has bumped into a cutey and lags behind.  When she attempts to help him--he's like an elephant on an ice cube--he falls, she falls, on top of and around each other.  However he doesn't fail to get her number.

Kesha and the girls skate over to the ATM machine.  When Kesha seeks to retrieve money, she gets a zero balance message.  A warning follows that; Your Funds Have Been Seized!  Racquel explains how the IRS makes clean sweeps of all accounts.  It isn't long before the girls squeal about Kesha's car. They skate outside to find it hasn't yet been possessed, jump in and drive off Single Ladies style.

Girlfriend Advice! Take It or Leave It?

Tasha Mack is back to her old ways. That is, she's dishing out advice to her girls on  how to handle their relationships.  She gave Chardonnay a few pointers on her relationship with Jason a few episodes back.  Then she warned Melanie about not supporting Derwin for the upcoming game.  It's nothing new, Tasha's been dishing advice on love and relationships (and everything else) since she met Melanie in the bathroom at the beginning of season 1.
